Mediterranean silk sea sponge – the smoothest organic natural sea sponge
A silk sea sponge is regarded as the smoothest and softest natural sea sponge. A natural sea sponge is, as the word describes, a sponge created by nature and not an artificial produced sponge. These sea sponges grow at the bottom of the sea. Common for all seasponges is how they contain these fantastic canals, which is how they absorb oxygen and food. The Cocoon silk sea sponge originates from the Mediterranean Sea, where it grows 15-50 meters below sea level. Divers dive to the bottom of the sea and collects the sponges but leaves the root of the sea sponge for it to regrow. As the sponges is a natural product, size and shape may vary.
A smooth sensation for the skin
The silk sponge originates from the group of natural sea sponges called “Fine Silk Sea Sponges”. The sponge has the name ‘silk sponge’ due to its incredibly tiny and smooth pores, that makes the sponge irresistibly soft. The numerous small canals in the sponge make the sponge able to absorb a vast amount of water. This makes the sponge highly usable as a bathing sponge for infants or smaller children.
Therefore, a natural sea sponge is incredibly hygienic as a bathing sponge and is recommended for people with allergies or sensitive skin.
How do I keep mu natural sea sponge clean?
A natural sponge is by nature a strong and durable product, and can, with proper care, last for many years. Accordingly, we have made a short description of the most important steps you need to be aware of regarding product care. First, it’s it important to wash the sponge thoroughly with clean water after use. Make sure that all the soap is washed out, if soap has been used. Soap left in the sponge may cause it to become soft and slimy and is therefore important to wash it thoroughly. Cold water is to be recommended or slightly warm water for cleaning the sponge, as too hot water may damage the sponge. Then, drain the sponge and let it sit in a dry and airy place until the sponge is completely dry. Never twist a natural sponge, as this too may cause damage. Instead, drain it by squeezing it hard with your hands. If you use the sponge daily, it is recommended to place the sponge in saltwater for 24 hours once per week for maximum care. The saltwater should have 125 grams of salt per each litre water. Finally, take the sponge out of the sponge, clean it with clean water, drain and let it dry.
